Visiting some friends from Michigan, we came here on St Patty's Day for trivial and food. Good prices, very good food. This place won't break your bank and offers good quality Mexican food (based on the only visit I've had here). They accidentally forgot to put my order in, and comp'd It immediately when the bill came without me asking them to...that's the sign of a place that offers great customer service. All-in-all, I would definitely eat here again and I encourage anyone who wants some good Mexican food at good prices to check this place out as well

Not a bad place at all. There is definitely worse in the near vicinity you could do if you're seeking Mexican. The actual meals were all well prepared and seasoned excellently. The only thing I didn't care for was the salsa. While it had good flavor, it was extremely chunky and had massive pieces of tomato in it. Overall, a good experience. We will go again sometime.

The chips and salsa were great, the meals are priced really well, and the food was super tasty!! We will definitely be back!

First time diners - it was a pleasant surprise! Place was packed on a Friday night. Service was quick and the food was not bad at all. Better than others we have tried locally. We will go back again.

Very good Mexican food. I was expecting the same thing I get at every other Mexican restaurant. This place was a Pleasant surprise. The salsa is the best I have had. Fresh with a hint of spice. The fajitas were great. I will absolutely come back again.

It had been a few years since my last trip to El OK. After moving out to the Donelson area I've had trouble finding a good Mexican restaurant. Tres Amigos, La Hacienda, Las Palmas...they go from alright to horrid and in that order respectively. Then there's El OK Corral. First thing I noticed: fresh tomatoes and cilantro in the salsa. Chips were fresh and high quality. The staff were quick and friendly to my son and me.There's not a lot on the menu you don't find elsewhere, by what came out was high quality. I ordered the San Louis Burrito- filled with shrimp, steak, chicken, and sausage. Topped with sauce and cheese that were flavorful, the chicken and beef were tasty with the shrimp not over cooked and plump. I asked them to add jalapeño- they put nice roasted jalapeño inside, not pickled jalapeño, not raw jalapeño, but nice, roasted peppers giving me the tasty spice I craved. My son ate all his beans and most of his rice and quesadilla. For a picky three-year-old, that's a glowing review. Authentic Mexican? Not really. Amazing culinary anomaly? Nope. Great tasty food in a clean, friendly atmosphere that is easy on the wallet? Bingo!!

Decided to break free from the cold winter weather and was craving some chips and salsa and a margarita. Opened Yelped and looked around and decided on this place. Once I opened up my google maps and put it in, I noticed it was a little drive from where I live, but we had nothing else to do so we headed out. The restaurant is located in a large, red building that looks like it might have been some kind of chicken place. Just a guess. It was noon on a Saturday and maybe it was the weather; but there was only about 3 tables with people eating. Three servers were sitting at the far side of the restaurant and one of them came up to greet and seat us. As we walked in, I noticed a sign that said they had happy hour from 11-9pm every day. So more like happy day, not happy hour. Also, $2.49 for lime on the rocks margaritas. Holla! We sat down and looked over the menu. They have the usual Mexican restaurant fare. The lunch menu on the back is available from 11-3pm. I decided to get the quesadilla fajitas for 6.99 with fajita chicken. It comes with rice, beans, and the guacamole salad which consists of sour cream, lettuce, pico, and guacamole. I also ordered the $2.49 margarita and thought it was only available in lime on the rocks, but the server asked if I wanted it frozen or on the rocks. I picked on the rocks with salt. The $2.49 margarita is a great deal. I thought it was going to be watered down but it wasn't. The size of the glass is also not small. I've seen places charge 5-6 bucks for the same margarita. One complaint on it is I wished the margarita was chilled, I realize they probably have it in a pitcher ready to go, but my first sip I could tell the drink was warm and I needed to let the ice do its magic. The chips and salsa were great. The chips being hot and the right amount of thickness to the chip, a perfect crunch. The salsa tasted fresh and had large chunks of tomato in it, which I like. I don't like when salsa is just a puréed liquid. This did have a little juice to it, which was okay, but I'd like a little thicker salsa. The food didn't take to long to arrive at the table. Our server didn't ask if we wanted more chips. I did, but I didn't want to ask for them because then it was me being the fatty and not him just being nice and asking and I not wanting to say "no". My quesadilla was average size, filled with cheese, onions, green peppers, tomatoes and a chicken that was well seasoned. Sometimes chicken at Mexicans places can taste like they just boiled it in a pot. My boyfriend ordered the lunch chimichanga and the chicken inside that was kind of like the boiled chicken, it needed a little more seasoning in my opinion. Overall I really like this place. The staff is friendly and the food tasted fresh and the $2.49 margarita can't be beat for the price. I wished it was located a little closer to home as I don't know if we will come out this way to eat much.

They have good mexican food...and I'm Mexican so I don't say this freely... I haven't had everything from the menu, however, I must say this place has great enchiladas suizas, green chicken enchiladas, and chile Colorado. The rice is always perfectly done, never overcooked, it's well seasoned, good refried beans. The chips and salsa are ok...not the best tasting, but average.

The salsa is the best I've had at a restaurant. The service is great and food is amazing! We will be back, often!

My family and I eat here a minimum of once a week. Hands down favorite place to go for a quick well priced meal. They are always sweet to our little girl as well. Great tasting food! I love El Ok.

Went here a couple weeks ago for a friend's birthday. There was about 12 of us and we were seated in the back bar area, which was nice. They must have known we were going to get rowdy. The margaritas were good, but that is about it. The chips were stale and the salsa was watery and just didn't taste very good. My chicken quesadilla was just ok. Not horrible, but def nothing special. The service was pretty lacking as well. I know we had a large group, but perhaps they needed more than one waiter attending to us. Our chips and salsa stayed empty most of the time, and they forgot to put my food order in .I have been to this restaurant 2 times and they have forgotten my food both times. What's up with that?? I would never go back to this place on my own accord. Too many other good Mexican places close by.

Possibly some of the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten. I've lived in Texas, California, and Mexico. I know Mexican food, this is some of the worst I've ever had. PRO: - Service staff is friendly and accommodating CONS: - Service staff did not get our order correct and missed two parts of our orders - Drink refills in the wrong cups. They took our cups and refilled them but with the wrong drinks. - Food is awful. I have a teenage son nicknamed the trash compactor. He eats everything; he left more than half of his food untouched he disliked it so much. I myself did the same thing. - Even food prep is poor. Nothing is cut up to bite sizes as it should be. You'll find huge chunks of onion, green peppers, and the like in every dish. - Youngster running the till. Now mind you I support a family business but I am highly uncomfortable when a 12 year old is running the register. In short the people I know who enjoy this restaurant tend to be folks who have no experience with what real Mexican food is and what it should taste like. I've given this restaurant two tries and this was definitely the last one.

Finally. I have found my Mexican place! (Let's be honest, everyone has one). This place was fantastic. I have never had better service... Anywhere. The drinks were topped off and the salsa was at the table when we didn't even have to ask for more. 5 out of 5 with service. The food was fantastic as well. Very traditional. Don't get me started on the margaritas. At a whopping 1.99; these suckers packed a pleasant punch. The one complaint I would have if I HAD to have one would be the A/C. It was kind of toasty in there when we were there (don't know if there was ac problems or not).

Oh I hate to do this. But I stopped going 6 months ago when my kid squirmed, pointed to the window: cockroach. Crawling on the window, inside!! Where there's one, there are a million more!

I wish I could rate this restaurant zero stars. My husband and I thought the food was horrible.

El Ok Corral is exactly that - okay. If you're already in Hermitage, make your way to Las Palmas Verdes or Cinco de Mayo. The food here has been never outstanding.

The food was very good. My husband and I both got burritos. His had avocadoes (forgot what its called) and I got a bean one. The salsa was awesome! The service was great and friendly. Overall, a good experience. :)

It's not bad. Consider the review 2-and-a-half stars. The food seems to get attention: the sauce on my chilequiles had real chunks of tomato, the meat was nice & tender, the salsa had bits of real garlic. But it suffers from insufficient seasoning. It's bland. The service could be faster, and they really need to crank up the air conditioning.

I have eaten at El Ok several times and its pretty good for Tex Mex. However I'm used to Sonoran style Mexican Food like I love in Phoenix, AZ , where I lived for 15 years. There they know how to make great salsa, green chili burritos, shredded beef tacos and chimichangas. I really miss that superb Cocina Mexicana. I still have to have my Mexican food fix here in TN.....so... EL OK and Cozumel's will get me by until my next trip to Phoenix.

Ok, let's just say we went here because of the name. We expected cheesy, over the top Mexican.... Once we arrived, we noticed that happy hour only lasted from 2pm-5pm (who drinks then?...most of us are at work), so that was a little disappointing, but let me tell ya, the food more than makes up for it. We were pleasantly surprised at some of the menu items because they weren't the typical Mexican/American fare. I got the carne asada tacos, that were seasoned to perfection. They were simply carne asada and a tortilla (you get three tacos) and came with a few toppings to add if you wanted. There was a side of some great baked beans with green chiles and chorizo too...so that was a plus. My husband go the enchiladas suizas that consisted of grilled chicken, tomatillo sauce and white cheese...these were also fantastic. To drink, we had 1/2 a carafe of sangria (only $6.50). They said it was homemade...and I don't know what that means, but it reminded us of what you get in St. Augustine FL (where we honeymooned). It was a little sweet, but very drinkable. All in all, I would totally recommend it.

The food was really good, but the service stunk. Our server didn't come and take our order until I flagged down the manager after 20 minutes. He walked by us 6 times and ingnored us totally. Then when our food arrived, he brought 3 plates out and no more. 10 minutes later we got the other 5 plates.

Came in on a Saturday afternoon. Hot outside today and cool inside the restaurant. My go to for any Mexican place is the Chile Colorado. Steak was tender, chile sauce was tasty. Rice was seasoned well, and the beans were average. It was a ton of food- I had to get a to go box. And my also must-have are chiles torreados. These were soft, but not overcooked. And came with a dust of garlic salt and plenty of limes. Service was fantastic, but in truth, it was late in the afternoon and only a couple of other guests. I'll definitely be back.

So this place is officially my new favorite Mexican restaurant in Nashville. I'm from Texas so I'm huge on Mexican food... This was by far the best Mexican I've had since being in Tennessee. I originally discovered this place driving by and saw their sign outside which said "$1.99 margaritas daily", and I'm always looking for a good place to go for a drink so I decided to go back with my boyfriend. We didn't have our expectations too high because after all, how good can a $1.99 margarita be? Was so shocked when I took my first drink. It was FULL of tequila. We were very satisfied. Then the food came out.... HUGE burritos that were actually REALLY good and not pricey at all. I'll be making another trip back to El Ok Corral tonight with my girlfriends from work and many other nights I'm sure... Oh, and very friendly waitress

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
